The Options tab of the Product card contains POS Categories, Pricing Levels, Custom Fields, and two Actions.
POS Categories
By visually grouping Products in the POS layout into nested, drill-down categories, you are able to access popular items and build Invoices very quickly using POS Categories. First, you create a series of Primary categories, and then within each create further Secondary categories. Within each of those, you may also create further Tertiary categories. POS Categories may be defined in the Setup panel of LightSpeed, and assigned in the Options tab of the Product to those Products you wish to have appear using the POS Button Mode. Products that have no POS Categories assigned will not appear in Button Mode, but may still be found using the search field of the POS screen. For more information, see the Point of Sale article of the Getting Started section.
Pricing Levels
Pricing Levels allow you to set up to 10 alternate prices for each Product in LightSpeed, and, optionally, set a cost for any level that overrides all other Costs on sales documents. Pricing Levels are set in the Options tab of the Product card, or in a batch by using Set Selling Prices. They can be accessed manually on sales documents or POS Invoices, or they can be associated with Customer Categories for automated discounting based on the Customer of the transaction.
Custom Fields
All Product Custom Fields set up in the Custom Fields setup panel show up in the Options Tab. Custom Fields can be created as Text, Date, or Checkbox fields. Up to ten Custom Fields can be set, and used in simple Browser searches, Smart Finds, Set Selling Prices, and Set Product Info.
For more information, please see the Configuration II article.
As with all profiles and documents, the Action menu is located at the bottom of the Product card, and contains various features that can only be accessed in the Action menu.
You can auto-populate a Product from its Action menu onto a sales document, or onto the Print Product Label window. You can duplicate a Product from the Action menu, but this feature does not copy the inventory, cost, photo, or Related Products. In the Action menu, you can add the Product to an available Parking spot, or display the Product’s Log history.
Notes Tab
The Notes tab features a text field where notes can be kept about the Product. Clicking the Pencil icon will insert a user timestamp in the field so that the note can be attributed and dated. Typing Command-’=’ is the keyboard shortcut for inserting a user timestamp.
