Please follow these steps to install Magento and establish a connection between LightSpeed and your Magento database. Please note that LightSpeed does not host Magento. For more information on Magento hosting, see http://www.magentohosting.biz/magento-hosting-requirements/.
The Magneto support in LightSpeed only works with Magento Community versions 1.4, 1.5 and 1.5.1. The 1.6.x versions contain an issue which prevents third-party plugins such as our connector from accessing the store, so these versions cannot be used. New Magento users should download 1.5.1 from http://www.magentocommerce.com/download under the Release Archives tab.
1. Install Magento
Follow the installation guide from Magento's website to install Magento:
2. Install Lightspeed Connector (Magento Extension)
3. Setup Magento Users and Roles
4. Setup Taxes in Magento
Click Taxes.doc for the Tax setup guide.
5. Setup Payment Methods in Magento
It is the user's responsiibility to set up the payment method in both LightSpeed and Magento. In LightSpeed, the user is to create a Payment Method under Tools > Setup > Basics > Payment Methods. For each payment type in Magento, a corresponding Payment Method must exist in LightSpeed which has the same name as the Payment Method title in Magento. The payment method should be of typeWeb Payment.
PLEASE NOTE: The "Password" setting in LightSpeed is actually the "API Key" setting in Magento's User setup.

7. Run an upload from Lightspeed
8. Setup the root category
9. Configure Home Page
For Products that are not assigned to a category to show up on the Magento Homepage, an administrator needs to add a setting.
SPECIAL NOTE: For Magento orders to change status from "processed" to "shipped", an administrator needs to do this manually.
When using the Magneto connector with LightSpeed 3.6 and above, the following field mappings will apply, illustrated in the graphics below. Note that all of these fields are populated and updated from LightSpeed. Changing any of these fields manually will result in lost information the next time the product is updated in LightSpeed.

There are a few additional points to remember about these mappings:
1. In Magento, the Short and Long Web descriptions (Fields 5 and 6) are required. If you leave them blank in the Product card, the Magento upload process will automatically copy the contents of your Description (Field 2) to these other fields.
2. Web Price (Field 7) is optional. If this is unchecked, the Sell price from the Info tab will be used.
3. Keywords are not used for Magento.
4. The product will not be uploaded until the Sell on Web checkbox (Field 3) is checked for the first time. Once uploaded, unchecking the box will change the Magento status to Disabled.
