Star Micronics manufacturers receipt printers that ship with drivers for Mac OS X. Star Micronics makes great printers, especially the TSP-100.
The Star printers come with a tear bar or an auto-cutter.
They can be configured to open a cash drawer when a receipt is printed.

There are two ways to connect a cash drawer to a LightSpeed station. You can either connect the drawer to a Star Micronics Printer or directly to the computer via serial or USB cable. LightSpeed has been tested with APG and Heritage Cash Drawers that connect through the Star printer and APG serial drawers with a Keyspan USB Adapter.
Cash drawers come in a variety of sizes and colors and can be configured to meet your individual needs. Please contact LightSpeed Sales for more information on cash drawer configurations.

Credit card swipes are used if you want to process credit cards directly within LightSpeed. You do not have to process credit cards in LightSpeed – you can use an external credit card terminal and enter the credit card and authorization data into LightSpeed manually.
LightSpeed 3.5 and higher supports the processing of PIN-based debit transactions via the Ingenico i6580 terminal (U.S.A.) or the Banksys Xenta (Australia)*. This device is available for clients of our credit card processing partners and must be purchased directly from them.
LightSpeed supports one and two track card readers. Consult your card swipe’s documentation or contact LightSpeed Support to determine if your model is supported. *Please Note: Processing is only available in Australia for LightSpeed 3.6 and higher.
