Important Notes for Upgrading to LightSpeed 3.6.x

Beginning in LightSpeed 3.6, there are new procedures for printing, cash drawer, and payment terminal configuration. Each section below will outline these changes, and give you the steps to complete to complete the new configuration. For more information on the configuration of POS hardware, please click here. Printing


LightSpeed 3.6 has added controls in the Payment methods section (Tools > Setup > Basics > Payment Methods) regarding cash drawer control and the desired number of receipt copies to print.
  1. For optimized printing in LightSpeed 3.6 or higher, please install the CUPS 3.3 driver.
  2. Reboot computer.
  3. Remove and re-add your printers in System Preferences. Ensure that your Default Printer is set to your Full Page Printer, and that your default paper size is US Letter.
  4. In LightSpeed, goto File > Station Setup > Printer Setup and make sure your Default Printers are assigned properly using the steps outlined below. 

A. Set Station Setup

  1. Navigate to File > Station Setup in LightSpeed
  2. Select Full Page if you would like to print Invoices to 8.5 X 11 or select Receipt if you want to print to a receipt size
  3. Indicate "With/Without Dialog Box" drop down menu (Note that print copy quantity is now set in each individual Payment Method) 
  4. If you have a Cash Drawer connected via Star printer, select "With Dialog Box". If connected via USB, set according to preference.  
  5. Click Printer Setup
  6. Select the appropriate printer for Full Page Printer, Receipt Printer and Label Printer
  7. Click Ok

B. Set Receipt Printer Page Setup (if Invoices are printed as receipts)

  1. Navigate to File > Page Setup in LightSpeed
  2. In Format For, choose your TSP printer
  3. Change the paper size to 72mm x 2000 mm and click OK
  4. Save for Receipt Printing

D. Set Full Page Printer Page Setup  (if Invoices are printed full-page)

  1. Navigate to File > Page Setup in LightSpeed
  2. In Format For, select your full page printer
  3. Change the paper size to US Letter and click OK
  4. Save for Full Page Printing

E. Set Paper Size

  1. Navigate to File > Page Setup in LightSpeed once more
  2. Choose "format for" select "Any Printer"
  3. Change the paper size to US Letter
  4. Next to Settings, select "Save As Default"
  5. Save for Full Page Printing

Configure Print Dialog Box for Cash Drawers

  • In your Print Dialog box, first ensure that your printer is set to Star-TSP printer, verify in your Layout drop-down menu choose Cash Drawer Control, in Option 1 (Cash Drawers) choose Cash Drawers 1 and 2 set it to 200 milliseconds.

 

 

Payment Terminal


Once you have configured the credit card terminal, you need to configure LightSpeed to recognize it and process payments. Before starting this process, you must already have configured the Credit Card Processing setup window, after arranging an account with a compatible payment gateway. 

Once you have configured a payment gateway, go to  Tools > Setup > Basics, and follow these steps.

A. Configure Terminal.

1. Double click Credit Card Terminals.

2. Click the "+" icon.

3. Choose "Ingenico" and give the terminal a name you will be able identify it with later. Click Create.

4. Select the terminal and enter the unit's IP and Port (see step 13 above). Click Save

5. Click Configure Terminal. When the dialog window disappears, the terminal has been configured. 

 

B. Pair Terminal to a Sales Station

1. Open Station Setup. Select "External Terminal" under Card Swipe. Click Terminals.

2. In Debit Setup window, select your terminal. Click Save. Enter OS Admin password for computer.
