November 22, 2011 – Montreal, CanadaLightSpeed, makers of award-winning retail technology for the iGeneration, today announced the latest upgrades to its core platform with the release of LightSpeed 3.6. “To date, we’ve had tremendous success with our products in the Australian market,” said Dax Dasilva, LightSpeed founder and CEO. “Adding credit card processing through Tyro Payments opens up great possibilities for LightSpeed in that market, especially in terms of LightSpeed Mobile.”

Updates to the platform include the optimization of LightSpeed Server to increase operating speed throughout LightSpeed for Mac and Mobile. Those users who work in the Browser, Point of Sale on Mac or Mobile, or in stores with five or more simultaneous users will see particular improvement.

“The peak retail season is just getting under way, with Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas all just around the corner,” said Dasilva. “LightSpeed has increased the speed of its platform so that retailers can easily handle higher transaction volumes during this busy time of year.”

The newest version also boasts centralized management and an improved payment-processing workflow for external payment terminals, the ability to choose the number of receipt copies per payment type, and better control over cash drawer opening. A redesigned Privileges window makes staff access restrictions to LightSpeed’s features easier to maintain.

To upgrade to 3.6, LightSpeed users will require a Support & Upgrades Subscription valid as of November 1, 2011, which can be renewed via a local LightSpeed reseller or by contacting LightSpeed Sales.

LightSpeed Mobile 1.6, a new version of the industry-leading mobile point-of-sale system, is compatible with LightSpeed 3.6 and is now available as a free download on iTunes. When paired with the 30-day LightSpeed demo, prospective users can test drive LightSpeed for both Mac and Mobile. LightSpeed Mobile requires an available user license on LightSpeed Server.

LightSpeed 3.6 sets the stage for a major forthcoming announcement by the company, one that will change the retail technology landscape. Users that upgrade to the latest version of the platform will be ready to turn their point of sale system into an interactive sales tool when the announcement comes early next month.
